14-Year-Old is Highest-Paid Soccer Player in U.S.
 
Freddy, he’s already a one-name celebrity, was born in Ghana. Seven years ago his
family won a green card lottery to come to the United States. That lottery win may
end up being the luckiest thing ever to happen to American soccer.
 
Freddy is just over 1.7 meters and weighs only 68 kilograms. But he says his size
and age shouldn’t matter. He’s ready for primetime.
 
“He's like a little magician with the ball. He can make the ball do what he wants to."
 
This 14-year-old is the highest-paid professional soccer player in the United States.
He has an endorsement deal with Nike worth more than a million dollars. And he
hasn’t even graduated from High School. Freddy could have played for much more
money abroad. But, he chose to stay close to his family and play in Washington.
The commissioner of United States professional soccer league could not be happier.
 
Freddy is the youngest professional athlete to play an American team sport in over
a hundred years.
