One of the few buildings left standing along the front line is the former Gimnazija
Aleksa Santic, long a symbol of ethnic unity...
...a place where generations of Serbian, Bosniak and Croat children went to school
together. Like the city, the school is now divided. The Croatian students have
classes here in part of the old building.
And the Bosniak students are using classrooms in an elementary school on the
other side of the frontline.
But, the organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe is trying to change
that. OSCE Regional Director Tom Young wants the school unified by February 2004.
