The star-studded Golden Globe Awards were held on Sunday in Los Angeles,
California.
Predictably The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King led the proceedings,
winning four awards including "best motion picture" and "best director" for Peter
Jackson.
Sean Penn won "best actor" for his performance in Mystic River, and Charlize
Theron for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in "Monster".
Tim Robbins and Renee Zelwegger collected awards for "best supporting actor and
actress," while Al Pacino and Meryl Streep picked up best supporting and lead rolls
for the TV miniseries Angels in America.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was the unknown BBC America comedy
"The office" which topped long running American shows "Sex and the City" and
"Friends" to win two awards: Best TV comedy and best actor for the shows co-
creator Ricky Gervais.
