A mathematician, an accountant and an economist apply for the same job. The i nterviewer calls in the mathematician and asks "What do two plus two equal?" He replies "Four." "Four, exactly?" He looks at the interviewer incredulously and says "Yes, four, exactly." Then the interviewer calls in the accountant. He says "On average, four - give or take ten percent, but on average, four." Then the interviewer calls in the economist and poses the same question. He g ets up, locks the door, closes the shade, sits down next to the interviewer a nd says "What do you want it to equal?"

(해설: 수학자는 정확하다. 회계사는 손익계산을 맞 추는 직업이다. 경제학자는 허구성이 많고 현실에 타협하려 한다는 것을 암시한다. )
